Last night I finally finished up season 4 of “The Wire” and was reminded of exactly how entralling and poignant a show it is. I missed the beginning of the series by about two years and then blew through the first 3 seasons in a week and a half. It was like I was living the game by that point. Then I subscribed to HBO so I could see the fourth season, but the other day I remembered that I never got to the last two episodes. Aaaanyway, I finally got to them last night. DAMN YO. Shit is amazing. Poor Bodie. I’m like, in mourning. Now season 5 is well underway but I ain’t got no HBO and I need me some more Wire. I’ve been planning on waiting for it to come out on DVD so I could binge on it instead of this incremental hour-a-week business. But now I’m hooked again. Gotta reup on that WMD.
For those in the throws of season 5, The American Prospect has this running commentary. I can’t read it yet because I don’t want to spoil anything. I made the mistake of reading the first line and was pissed about Prop Joe.
If you haven’t yet experienced “The Wire,” please please please do yourselves a favor.
