Although my weekend got off to a rocky start after someone stole my umbrella in the doctor’s office waiting room and I subsequently got caught in a downpour, it slowly improved and then ended with a bang on Sunday night as the Giants came from behind to win the Super Bowl. Super indeed.
And the good times keep coming. I left my apartment this morning (feeling surprisingly good after the gluttonous evening before) to find it was snowing! Looks like Punxutawney Phil was telling the truth. And to top it off, I saw an old man in a business suit riding a Segway down Park Avenue. For some reason, this always puts a smile on my face.
And, finally, tomorrow is Super Tuesday! Even though I forgot to change my voter registration status in time to vote in the democratic primary, I’m still excited and surprisingly ambivalent about who wins. I, like my friend Sweeney, have been warming to Obama as of late. Mostly because Clinton has been irritating me. Ever since Iowa, her campaign has seemed desperate and frantic. Her latest attempts to get the Florida and Michigan votes to count after winning in those states is one example. And I feel like she has developed a crazy look in her eyes, which, combined with her big plastic smile, sometimes makes it look like her head might explode. I still think she’s a brilliant woman with good policies, but she’s lost a little of her luster for me.
As for Obama, I know I’ve been unconvinced by his mantra for change in the past. I still haven’t really bought into it. But like Clinton, I do think he’s a brilliant person, with good policies (minus his health care plan). And this video by will.i.am and Jesse Dylan inspired by Obama’s speech after the New Hampshire primary is pretty damn moving.
T&T, I am so happy to hear you both warming to the idea of an Obama presidency. TLantz, perhaps Scarah has been whispering in your ear.
